Being a vampire now made the night life a touch more enjoyable. All your senses were heightened, increasing your perception and how you experienced the world in many wonderful ways. The sense you were currently working on honing though was your sight, as everything was still developing within you and your new found abilities thanks to your life with Dio. In the dark, you couldn’t see everything as crystal clear as Dio described because your vision was still developing into proper ‘vampire’ vision, and it really freaked you out. You weren’t necessarily afraid of the dark, but you were afraid of what you couldn’t see, and what could jump out and potentially harm or scare you. It was a small fear, but it was still significant enough to make you antsy about your vision developing quicker.

Every night in your waking hours, you would go to the darkest room in the building you and Dio stayed in to test and see if your ‘night vision’ had gotten any better, praying to god that one of Dio’s minions weren’t lurking about the room to scar the piss out of you; as they did so on random occasions for entertainment. Tonight in particular was no different, you closing the door to the pitch black room you always took time to test yourself in behind you quietly.

Taking a deep breath, you proceeded in the darkness of the rather long room, attempting to make out the shapes of objects and walls around you. This room was literally muscle memory to you at this point, so you were able to avoid the objects on the floor because you tripped on them many times before, but you still couldn’t see anything for shit. Your hearing was fine, but you weren’t going to click like a bloody bat to get around. You were a vampire, and not the bat kind either.

Pausing, you stared into the pitch blackness, forcing your vision to focus ahead of you and make something out. Sadly, nothing but fuzzy grey outlines were the summary of your sight path, just like when you were human. Giving a disappointed sigh that echoed against the blackened walls, you stood with crossed arms in aggravation, closing your eyes as if it would help you see if you opened them again. During your little session of focus though, you heard a creek from behind you in the room and immediately whirled around to try and identify who or what it was. Not that it made a difference as you still couldn’t see shit. It was probably another one of Dio’s minions again, and you gave an unamused growl towards the direction of the sound.

“Okay whichever one of you fuckers it is this time, piss off man! Or I’ll pay Dio to fucking gut you.” You threatened.

The sounds stopped immediately, and it felt like a presence left the room. You snorted cockily, mumbling something about how his followers were little dick heads before continuing on in the room, still quite determined on working out your vision problem. Even as you went though, slight paranoia still hung over you as you walked on, the feeling that someone was walking in your footsteps being prominent; like the presence that left had returned. In fact, it almost sounded like there was a slight echo behind your own steps when you thought about it. You stopped to listen, confused and irritated. Everything sounded like it was following you from behind you, so you whorled around again with your arm out this time, hoping to whack the fucker that was following you square in the face.

“No one…” You mumbled when your fist connected wit nothing but air. “Jeez, I must be getting paranoid.” You scoffed, turning back around to the direction you were facing before.

“Jeez _______, you almost punched me.” A dark voice chuckled mere inches from your face unexpectedly, filling every space in from of you with a presence.

“EYAAAH!” You screamed at the top of your lungs, jumping back with so much fear that you tripped and fell on your back, hitting the floor with genuine terror.

The laughter that followed after belonged not to any little shit head minion, but to Dio himself. You looked up and very clearly seen his figure bent over laughing, and you became extremely irritated.

“You are a FUCKING ASSHOLE!” You yelled furiously at him, eyes burning with rage.

“Ahaha! Come on _______ that one was pretty good!” He laughed loudly, wiping a tear from his eye as he breathed in deep to cease his laughter.

“FUCK YOU.” You yelled once more, quickly getting up off the ground and dashing back towards the door, everything clear as day in your line of sight as you busted out into the hall and out of sight, heart racing strongly from both fear and rage at the same time.

“_______ wait!” Dio called, but you had already gone. “Ah shit… Maybe I should’ve thought this one out a bit…” He mumbled regretfully, wondering what kind of fear he just instilled into you from his little joke. “You dun goofed, Dio.” He told himself, smacking his forehead in shame.

Dio left the room and immediately began to search for you to apologize, checking every single room from the basement to his own shared room with you on the top floor. You were nowhere to be found in any of the many rooms located in his home, and he became slightly frustrated upon being unable to find you.

“Shit!” Dio cursed, kicking his coffin in the center of his room. “You pissed off an angel. Good job numb nuts.” He scowled.

Pondering the thought of where the hell you could be once more, he had one last idea for a place he had yet to check.

“The roof…” He mumbled, looking at the window.

Following his gut, Dio leapt out the window and took giant leaps to the highest part of the roof that was flat enough to sit on. Sure enough, when he got there, him landing lightly on the roof’s edge, you were sitting on the opposite side he was on, staring up at the moon with your knees pulled close to your chest. Glad he found you, Dio began to approach you from behind at a much more cautious pace to make sure he wouldn’t startle you again.

You heard him approaching this time and turned around with a deep growl, bearing your fangs at him threateningly. It’s not like it would be threatening to him, but it was a new instinct you picked up so you did it anyway. He froze in place, looking quite surprised that you issued an instinctive growl upon him. You turned back around at this point and resumed staring into the sky, the small threatening atmosphere f warning fading when you did. Regretfully, Dio sighed, and came only a few more steps closer before he spoke.

“Hey _______, I’m really sorry I spooked you like that… Apparently I thought it was a good idea like my idiot followers.” He apologized to you.

“You know I can’t see in the dark you ass.” You grumbled.

“But on your way out it looked like you could see perfectly though! You didn’t hit a single thing.” He pointed out, trying to be lighthearted.

You paused and thought about that for a second. He was right. You did see very clearly on your rampage out of the room. “That’s besides the point. You scared the piss outta me when you knew I was trying to practise my visionary techniques.” You argued against him, squeezing your legs closer to your body as you hunched over near the edge of the roof.

“I know…” He mumbled shamefully. “But what is it that really got you? Are you afraid of the dark?” He asked, coming closer.

“Not afraid of the dark, afraid of the unknown. That’s why I’m pissy I can’t see in the dark. I don’t know what’s around me to kill me and that’s what really scares me.” You told him, the slight grouch in your tone disappearing.

Dio nodded, understanding what you meant completely. “Wow I feel like a dick. Shit I’m sorry ______.” He said sympathetically.

He crouched down behind you and forced his hands and arms around your waist between your scrunched up form, pulling you back and closely into his chest.

“Fuck you.” You mumbled, still slightly angry at him.

“C’mon, I said sorry _______! You know I love you. Forgive me pleeease?” He whined childishly, squeezing you tighter while resting his head on top of yours.

“Fuckin’… Let me be mad at you, you asshole.” You mumbled again, the tiniest of smiles coming across your lips.

    “I know you’re smiling! Come on _______. Don’t be a party pooper!”

“Fine! I forgive you.” You finally said, releasing your tightly balled up form and letting him hug you closely. “God, what happened to the ravenous killer in you?”

“He went away so that I can love you of course.” Dio hummed, moving his head down to your shoulder to be next to yours. “Because the only thing I can’t stand in this world other than the Joestars, is seeing you unhappy.” He finished, kissing you gently after tilting your head up.

“Tch, thanks Dio. I’m glad I calm the demon within you.” You smiled, kissing back when you finished speaking, emulation your never ending love for him, even when he pissed you off.

Lol I had to shorten the title to get it all to fit. XD Anyway, next little entry in the Dio X Reader drabble series!
